Prax Foundation Roots Announces Support For Harbour Place In Grimsby

HARBOUR-PLACE-1536×1024

Recently, a team of six volunteers from across Prax Lindsey Oil Refinery went to Harbour Place, in the nearby town of Grimsby. Harbour Place supports homeless and vulnerable people throughout North East Lincolnshire, providing food, clothes, and shelter.  Three of the Prax team spent the day helping in the kitchen preparing breakfast for the service users, and sorting and folding clothes.  The other three members of our team set off with the Outreach team, in a support vehicle, which was donated by Prax in 2021.  They met people who were sleeping rough on the streets in Cleethorpes and Grimsby, to convince them to come to the charity’s Hope Centre, where they could receive help, including a hot shower, rest in a decent bed, and basic medical attention.

Several of the workers at Harbour Place mentioned that the charity is really struggling as a consequence of the cost of living crisis, and that urgent support was desperately needed.  Our company’s charity, Prax Foundation Roots, has therefore agreed an initial year-long partnership with Harbour Place to support them, both with funding and volunteers.  We will be providing financial funding on a monthly basis, with the money going towards the running and maintenance of the shelter.  Prax Foundation Roots has also set aside funding solely to provide a monthly food shop for the shelter.

We marked the start of our partnership by donating underwear and socks, which will the charity will be able to hand out to those in need.  As it turns out, underwear is a very overlooked, but greatly needed necessity.

Harbour Place is a charity that Prax Lindsey Oil Refinery has supported for a number of years, sharing their belief that everyone deserves a chance to change their life for the better – and the Harbour Place team works incredibly hard to provide a safe and supportive environment to facilitate this.
